Plenty of builders wanted color without RGB, at a price that made sense.
The hard call
Three constraints at once: no harm to airflow, a more premium look, and no added cost.

03In my words
FA12 was a way to bring color beyond RGB, at an affordable and functional price. The structural ID took a few months of exploring what we could do that would do no harm to airflow, look more premium, and not add cost. The result looks like a solid body rather than the thin-walled injected look most other fans have. Plastic injection needs consistent wall thickness, so we hid the walls on the exhaust side and shaped them like radial waves. The front looks simple and luxurious; the back looks fresh and new. We even spent a couple of weeks finalizing the sticker design.
