“hands-down, the best AIO on the market in every performance metric” Tom’s Hardware
01The brief
The insight
The cooler had become a trophy on top of the CPU. Its best features were about how you felt, not about cooling.
The hard call
Fitting the screen and light around the Y70’s unusual glass placement.
02What I did
What I made
- Light projected from the cooler’s central position
- The Double-Hinged Floating Spout
- A vertical, phone-like IPS screen
- The dual-SoC design
- The THICC name
- A 50% larger radiator, unified fans, a white colorway
What I led
- The THICC Q-series, from Q60 to Q80
03In my words
Outside of cases, I had a long and prolific career in liquid cooling, and I could see where this market was going. The highest-ASP coolers were growing faster than any other segment. A liquid cooler had become the functional trophy you put on top of your CPU: the features of the highest-end coolers contributed less to cooling and more to how you felt about your computer. So we innovated at the screen, lighting, hidden cables and software, and made the common-sense performance changes too: a thicker radiator, better pumping, larger-ID tubing and a larger copper cold plate.
Technology Harnessing Innovative Chonk for Cooling.
The name
I carried the idea of light immersion over from the Keeb. The cooler sits at the center of the system, so I wanted it to project light and reduce the need to run light strips. That was extra difficult because our best-selling case had its front glass in a different place than other cases. We created a Double-Hinged Floating Spout that lets the screen and lighting pivot and sit far out without blocking the light. We put in the biggest IPS screen we could source and mounted it vertically, so it feels closer to a phone, very different from the squares and circles our competitors shipped. Two separate SoCs ran it: one drove the Android operating system at 720p and 60 fps, and the other drove Nexus Link. Nexus Link chains every node on one cable that carries power, cooling, lighting and sensor data, and each node has its own microcontroller talking two-way with Nexus. Daisy-chaining the fans and lights off the cooler meant one cable instead of a nest of them, which is what made the ultra-clean look possible.
From very early on I knew the product name had to have THICC in it. I came up with Technology Harnessing Innovative Chonk for Cooling, knowing the media would read it out loud. It was perfect content.
HYTE THICCENS up its liquid cooling performance.
Launch, January 2025
The THICC Q80 was the ultimate version of our design: a radiator 50% larger, unified fans that were better looking and quieter, a white colorway, a much better copper cold plate, and endless refinements.
Specially designed to fit perfectly in Y70… down to the last millimeter.

“THICC”-ER PERFORMANCE GAINS
Designed to fit the HYTE Y70 and Y70 Touch Infinite cases down to the last millimeter while remaining compatible with a plethora of additional chassis, the THICC Q80 Trio is capable of even more performance thanks to its ginormous heat exchanger, which measures 360mm long and 52mm thick for maximum cooling capacity and efficiency. The THICC Q80 Trio also boasts a larger, second-generation copper cold plate with a revised liquid flow path that further enhances temperatures while improving socket compatibility.
The THICC Q80 Trio is also pre-installed with HYTE’s new THICC FP12 Trio fans, which use an embedded thermal sensor for intelligent speed control, and fiberglass reinforced LCP fans to deliver up to a staggering 105.8 CFM in airflow, and 8.14mm H2O of static pressure. These new fans also utilize its single-frame design with all three fans to provide an omnidirectional aesthetic for uninterrupted visual flow, and structural rigidity that simplifies connectivity.
NEXUS 2.0 UPDATES
Mounted above the cold plate, on an improved floating hinge design, is HYTE’s eye-catching 720p 60Hz 5” Ultraslim IPS Display with its 42-Pixel ARGB array that brings systems to life with mesmerizingly saturated color. The screen has a full 180 degrees of rotation allowing the user to adjust it to their desired position to get the best viewing angle.
Other features that are coming to both the THICC Q60 and the THICC Trio Q80 through the development of HYTE’s 2.0 Nexus software overhaul include:
Unlimited screen personalization that lets users display real-time performance graphing, living media & music integration, a multi-sensor display, HD video/GIF/image playback, and app-based screen switching.
Intelligent system-wide cooling control that enables the connection of up-to 36 daisy-chained fans via Nexus 2.0, and universal fan control via the motherboard’s PWM headers.
Immersive RGB lighting effects that can be synced across over 1,800 devices thanks to HYTE’s integration of the OpenRGB SDK into Nexus 2.0. The THICC Q80 Trio also comes with an included LS10 light strip that adds an extra dimension of ambient RGB lighting.
The HYTE THICC Q80 Trio will be available in both Snow White and Pitch Black colors and will be fully customizable through the HYTE Nexus 2.0 Software. The THICC Q80 Trio will also be on display in the HYTE / iBUYPOWER suite at CES 2025.

HYTE Releases its First All-in-One Liquid Cooler THICC Q60
LAS VEGAS, JAN 9, 2024 - HYTE, a leading manufacturer of cutting-edge PC components and peripherals, is excited to release its first all-in-one (AIO) liquid cooler, THICC Q60. Previously announced during Computex 2023, THICC Q60 is redefining the modern liquid cooling experience with the largest digital IPS display on an AIO and is expected to have one of the highest performance-to-noise ratios among the competition.
"The THICC Q60 delivers ginormous thermal performance and obscene amounts of digital innovation," said Rob Teller, Product Director of HYTE. “This 240 will destroy any 360 AIO from our competition.”
Prominently displayed above the THICC Q60 CPU block on a double-hinged floating spout is a 5” ultraslim IPS display that sports a 720 x 1280 resolution and an incredibly crisp 293 pixels per inch. A 60Hz refresh rate provides a smooth visual experience while 300 nits of brightness deliver real-life depth to the digital experience. Included behind the display panel of THICC Q60 is a 42-pixel qRGB array designed to illuminate system components, all controlled through HYTE Nexus software.
Dual harmonic pumps with aerospace grade ceramic bearings located in the 240mm by 52mm thick heat exchanger of THICC Q60 efficiently circulate liquid with near silenced acoustics. The ginormous heat exchanger utilizes a parallel dual-pass design, maximizing both cooling capacity and efficiency. In tandem, a micro-skived copper cold plate enables a tremendous amount of heat transfer and thermal performance to effortlessly tame the modern-day CPU.
Coupled with the THICC Q60 are two 32mm THICC FP12 fans with fiberglass reinforced Liquid Crystal Polymer blades providing exceptional rigidity, durability, and aerodynamics. The dynamically adjustable 0 - 3,000 RPM fan speed delivers a monstrous 105.8 CFM airflow and 8.14 mm-H2O static pressure. THICC Q60 also provides a zero RPM fan mode to completely stop the blades of the THICC FP12 fans from spinning for silent operation under light workloads. THICC FP12 fans connect to each other and THICC Q60 via a Nexus Link Type-M channel.
Customization of THICC Q60 is enabled through HYTE’s software, Nexus, which enables the polling of various sensors to tune pump and connected fan curves across multiple saved profiles, displays essential hardware performance, temperature, and usage statistics in real time, visualizes the connected sequential node network along with AmpScale health, and more. THICC Q60 is part of HYTE’s Nexus Link Ecosystem of products and can sequentially connect up to 18 devices on a single channel and up to 34 devices across both channels, through 1 x Nexus Link Type-C and 1 x Nexus Link Type-M ports.
Pricing & Availability
THICC Q60 is currently available for purchase from HYTE.com within the United States and Canada for a starting MSRP of $299.99 USD. Global availability is expected in quarter one of 2024.
